Cooling Down Seminar | RENEWABLE COOLING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

28 October 2024

On Wednesday, November 27, the Cooling Down online event “Renewable Refrigeration for a Sustainable Future” was held, aimed at municipal technicians, councilors, sector companies, researchers, and citizens interested in sustainable solutions for their communities.

The event featured the participation of experts, municipal technicians, and energy sector representatives to address the challenges and opportunities in the energy transition towards a more sustainable model in the fields of heating and cooling.

A Highlighted Meeting with International Experts

The event took place at the facilities of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) with live streaming for attendees from across Spain and Europe. It was inaugurated by Borja Badenes, researcher with the ICTvsCC research group and professor at UPV; Nuria Campos Moragón, First Deputy Mayor of the Paterna City Council; and Philippe Dumas, Secretary General of the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) and Coordinator of the European project “Cooling Down.”

Agenda

COOLING DOWN Project

COOLING DOWN seeks to propose a vision for a renewable cooling sector in Europe in the coming decades, and issue policy recommendations and proposals to achieve it. Beyond the technological, economic, and social trends to be assessed through research, expert consultations and modelling, the COOLING DOWN project will also be seeking to address the contribution of renewable cooling technologies to climate change adaptation with a specific focus on the mitigation of the urban heat island effect. The COOLING DOWN project has received funding from the European Union under grant agreement 101077140 — LIFE21-CET-COOLING-COOLING DOWN. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or CINEA. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
